Title: “Life Is What You Make It”

From the Artist:

”With a background from dance I have learnt to approach art in the same way. To truly dance is to be in the moment, to allow movement to be born from life, to not think about it. In a way it is a meditation. When I paint I allow colours to come to me, movements to happen and shapes to appear. This is integral to my art. The journey is as important if not more than the end result. I am inspired by powerful mind-bending shapes or forms that are new, original and mesmerizing.

I started to have these dreams where I would be dancing with colour flying out of my body leaving marks in the air. Since then I have started to combine dance and painting. Discovering a new form of blissfulness for me. I perform live painting directly onto canvas sheet, placed either on the wall or floor using the body as a means to paint. This process emphasizes the spontaneity within creation. The limitation with most art is that there is a focus on the end result, which is or is not visible within the art piece itself. The beauty of the dance with paint performance is that it shows the journey of creation.”

How has covid19 affected you?

”No longer able to train at my university and prepare for upcoming performances/assessments - National Centre For Circus Arts. Self isolating as I live with someone with at risk health conditions.”
