How does your membership program work?

The artists and photographers who are accepted into the membership program at Solas Studio set their own dues from $5/mo and up. These payments accrue into an account for future use on the studio’s services.

Membership has many perks and benefits beyond helping you save on the services the studio provides. You’ll get exclusive access to our member’s only Discord server where we share opportunities and do all our planning. You’ll also get exclusive discounts on printing, invitations to regular member’s only workshops, have the opportunity to submit to and help plan shows in the space, and more!

What can I use my member credits on?

Whatever money you save up in your account as a member can be redeemed when you need it for things like professional artwork digitization (photography/scanning), fine art prints, headshot shoots, video shoots, booking the studio for a day, making new business cards, fliers, catalogues, t-shirts, pins, patches, buttons, graphic design, website design, fine art installation, copywriting, vinyl cutting, photo retouching, private consultation and more!

Member credits are also applicable towards workshops and classes that have material costs.

Why do I have to apply?

Many of the perks include us helping you to promote. We want to make sure your work reflects the quality we are known for as fine art gallery and photography printing business.

How do you choose who to accept?

We don’t stipulate what sort of art you make or how you make it but we are looking for evidence of a consistent and committed art practice that displays a level of technical refinement on par with our other artists.

Does my member spending credit expire?

No, your accrued credit does not expire provided you maintain and active account. If you cancel your membership you will have 30 days from your last payment made to use it. You can change the amount you pay into your account at any time. $5/mo is the minimum.

Even if you’re too busy to take advantage of workshops, classes or exhibitions, your membership can help you save up for quality professional services and products you’ll need later on.

Who is in charge?

Solas studio is a private business solely owned by Liam Cotter. However, the membership is operated as a social enterprise whose goals are shaped by ongoing dialogue between the professional staff of the studio and the customer members.

How is the gallery programming curated?

Each quarter (3 months) a new channel is opened on our Discord server where members are encouraged to submit 2-8 images of their most recent work to be selected by the in-house team at Solas to be put on display and for sale in the studio for a month’s duration. Participation in this show is guaranteed.

Popular ideas submitted to the #suggestions channel by members may be selected by the studio to be given a special feature. Typically this comes in the form of a pairing of artists exploring similar themes or a particular member being selected to curate the show themselves.
