New York - The Art + Tech Salon returns, offering a thought-provoking evening of dialogue and exploration at the intersection of Art and technology. On August 17, 2023, join us for an engaging program introducing Donna J. Haraway's seminal text "A Cyborg Manifesto" by the esteemed host, Rowynn Dumont. The evening will feature a captivating talk by guest speaker Brandon Wisecarver and an artist talk by Elaine Chao, a Q+A session, and an opportunity for artists to share and discuss their portfolios. This event will also be internationally live-streamed.

The Art + Tech Salon, curated to foster critical conversations and exchange of ideas, will commence with Rowynn Dumont's lead introduction on "A Cyborg Manifesto." Published in 1985, Haraway's work has profoundly influenced feminist theory, science and technology studies, and posthumanist discourse. Dumont will provide an insightful rundown of the evening's programming, setting the stage for an enriching experience.

Guest speaker Brandon Wisecarver, a distinguished figure in the art and technology domain, will present a thought-provoking talk centered on the practical problems associated with decentralization dogma, explicitly focusing on Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and exploring the complex relationship between artificial intelligence (A.I.) as both an artist's tool and adversary. Wisecarver's expertise and unique perspective will illuminate the implications and challenges artists face in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Following Wisecarver's talk, digital-based artist Elaine Chao, with experience in the NFT realm, will discuss her current exhibition being showcased at SOLAS.

Subsequently, a dynamic Q+A session will allow attendees to engage directly with the speaker, delve deeper into the topics discussed, and gain valuable insights. The evening will transition into Artist Hour, where artists can share and discuss their portfolios in a supportive and collaborative environment. This segment aims to foster creative dialogue, critical feedback, and meaningful connections among artists.
