Brandon Wisecarver
Bio
b.1985 - Austin, Texas.
Brandon Wisecarver is a fine art educator, community manager and new media digital artist with a focus in virtual reality. Classically trained as a draftsman and painter, he currently resides in Manhattan. Brandon is currently the Programming Coordinator and a membership liaison for Solas Studio NYC. Brandon is best known for managing the Con Artist Collective on Ludlow Street from 2014-2020 and his @wisecarver TikTok account.
Artist Statement
“My favorite quote about creating art comes from Orson Welles when he said ‘The enemy of art is the absence of limitations.’ I am equally at home pouring molten bronze or watercolor painting as I am in my currently preferred medium of digital art via Virtual Reality. However, I admit to enjoying the exploration of new mediums most precisely because they are often clunky and awkward. I both cherish and disregard tradition. It has an equal capacity to sustain us as well as hold us back.”

This work is a reinterpretation of Paleolithic illustrations found in the “Hall of Bulls” in Lascaux, France. The original illustrations lining this famous cave are thought to have been done between 28,000 and 10,000 BCE. This 20x20” archival version on paper by Brandon Wisecarver was created in Virtual Reality on the Meta Quest 2 platform and are made to order on an Epson SureColor P-9000. Available signed or unsigned.
