Artist Statement

It all started in 2007 when i wanted to create original designs for a clothing company that I started with a friend in Orange County, NY. Although I never focused on the arts through school, I was attracted to the arts since I could remember.

I decided that I would turn to the medium of collage to create my shirt designs. I started with scissors and glue and quickly switched to the Xacto knife and tape. The reason I chose archival tape over glue is so that I can go back and make changes.

I eventually moved to Brooklyn in the begining of 2008, leaving the apparel world but continued on with making collage.

Eventually my work would evolve and grow in size. From creating works that usually measured the size of a page of a magazine consisting of 3 clips, I transitioned to creating complicated works consisting of hundreds upon hundreds of clips eventually leading to one piece that measuring 10ft x 5ft.

When it comes to source material, I went from strictly using old encyclopedias, to a variety of vintage magazines, books, comics, and sometimes even 3D objects. One thing that has stayed consistent is adding a humor and love to every piece of collage I create.

The art of collage has always played a therapeutic roll in my life, especially for me since I have ADHD. My mission is to continue to inspire and educate through collage, looking to add a bit of color and laughter to the world around me.
